Forge offers a variety of plans to meet your needs. When you sign up with Forge you’ll have one site available with a 1GB per month bandwidth cap. Upgrading to their Copper Plan lets you create up to 10 sites using your own custom domains with uncapped bandwidth (billed at 20¢ / GB over a 10GB threshold). Their copper plan is a great way to get started, and if you stay under 10GB each month, you’ll only be charged the base rate of $10. Extra bandwidth over that is charged at 20¢ per gigabyte.
Your Forge account is billed as a monthly subscription, with no minimum term so you can cancel, upgrade or downgrade as and when you want to. The billing cycle starts on the date you sign up for Forge, and they’ll bill your payment method once a month on that day. For example, if you sign up on March 1st, Forge will bill your card on the 1st of every month.
The base rate for your Forge account will be determined by the plan you choose. If you choose the Copper plan, you’ll be charged $10 per month. If you choose the Bronze plan, you’ll be charged $50 per month. In addition to the base rate, you may also be charged for additional bandwidth costs if you exceed your monthly limit. For example, if your Forge plan allows for 10GB of bandwidth per month and you use 12GB of bandwidth in a given month, Forge will charge you for the 2GB of overage at a rate of $0.20 per GB. Overage charges will be applied to your account at the end of each billing cycle and will appear on your next monthly statement.
If you’re not sure how much bandwidth you need, the best thing to do is start with one of the lower-tier plans. The copper plan, for example, gives you 10GB of bandwidth. If you find that you’re regularly exceeding your plan’s limit, you can always upgrade to a higher-tier plan later on. And if you have any questions about which plan would be best for you, the Forge support team is always happy to help.
To determine how much bandwidth you’ll need for static hosting at Forge, it’s helpful to consider two factors: the number of images and assets on your site, and the amount of traffic your site receives. Generally speaking, the more images and assets your site has, the more bandwidth you’ll use serving up your site. And, of course, the more traffic your site gets, the more bandwidth you’ll use. With that in mind, the average bandwidth for a Forge site is about 1GB per month. That means you could host 10 sites on their copper plan and still not be charged for extra bandwidth. So no matter what your specific needs are, Forge has a static hosting plan that will accommodate you – and do so without breaking the bank.
